Grizzlies remain on top as winning streak is now at 15

The hot streak continued for the Mariposa County High School varsity baseball team as they defeated the Knights from Stone Ridge Christian to bring their record to 10-0 in league action.

The Grizzlies hosted Stone Ridge at MCHS on April 14 where they shut out the Knights 10-0.

Ben Lingenfelter continues to be a major factor on the mound and at the plate for the Grizzlies.

Lingenfelter hit a grand slam on March 31 against Gustine. He struck out seven players over five innings while going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Along with the home run, Lingenfelter had six RBI and scored two runs in the 17-2 win over the Reds.

Lingenfelter continues to be reliable as he didn’t allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine batters over six innings pitched.

He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 while recording one stolen base, one run and one RBI.

Carmine Sandoval had himself a night as he got on base three of the four times he was at the plate.

Sandoval had two stolen bases, three runs and two RBI.

Bodie Hagan got on base all four times he stepped up to the plate. Hagan put up three RBI, two doubles and scored one run.

The Grizzlies went up against Stone Ridge Christian again on April 16, this time on the Knights home field.

MCHS kept the momentum going along with their streak, as they won 13-2.

Reid Allison had two runs, three hits, one RBI and a stolen base while Laten Bulter put up one run, one hit and two RBI.

John Ogilby scored one run, had one hit and two RBI while Ez Weiland recorded two runs, one hit, one RBI and one stole base for the Grizzlies.

After the win over Stone Ridge Christian, MCHS had a winning streak of 15 and sat in first place in league with a record of 10-0.

With about four games remaining in the regular season, the Grizzlies traveled to Modesto Christian on April 21 to go up against the Crusaders (4-6 in league).

Results were not available at press time.

Next up, the Crusaders will be the visiting team at MCHS on April 23.

Game time is 4 p.m.
