With about 40 percent of the ballots in to the Mariposa County Elections Office counted, Lisa Edelheit leads in the District 1 race for county supervisor with 39 percent of the vote, followed by Stanley Bissmeyer with 36 percent. Edelheit has 325 votes compared to 297 for Bissmeyer.

Candidate Adam McLane was in third place with 25 percent of the vote as of around 9 p.m., or 206 tallies.

Should those numbers hold, Edelheit and McLane would vie for the seat in the November general election as neither candidate earned 50 percent plus one vote.

Current Supervisor Rosmarie Smallcombe did not seek reelection.

In the race for Mariposa County Assessor/Recorder, Tammie Guenthart leads with 59 percent of the vote compared to 40 percent for Jenifer Canter. As of 9 p.m., Guenthart had 2,493 votes compared to 1,720 for Canter.

Guenthart is the current office holder, having been appointed to the position following the resignation of former assessor/recorder Vince Kehoe.

Votes from drop boxes El Portal, Greeley Hill, Yosemite, Wawona have yet to be received, according to elections officials.

As of 9 p.m., there were 4,477 votes counted out of 11,897 mailed out. It remains unclear how many ballots will be returned and counted. Voter turnout in Mariposa County is traditionally strong.
