Yosemite Unified School District greeted staff on campus officially for the first time in the 2026-27 school year with a traditional Welcome Back Breakfast.

Superintendent Brian Beck announced the theme for the new school year: “Stay the Course: Execute the Plan.

This follows previous annual themes including “Love Our Kids: Creating caring environments,” “Make a Difference: Meeting Individual Needs,” “Together We Can: Collective efficacy” and “Every Piece Matters: Everyone has a role in improvement.

New staff members were introduced including Coarsegold Elementary School (CES) teachers Lindsay Martin, Daniel Bodine and Suzana Webber; CES Paraeducators Isla Dudley, Kaila Stout and Olivia Austin; Rivergold Elementary School (RES) teachers Tyla Hazelrigg and Cassidy Cook; Yosemite High School (YHS) teachers Ivana Denette and Daniel Needham; Director of MOTF Russell Hazan; YHS Campus Supervisor Grace Mierkey and School Psychologist Madison Kruger.

Donors and sponsors included

School Leaders, EECU, Lozano Smith Attorneys at Law, Creede-Blythe Law, Atkinson Andelson Loya Ruud & Roma Law, Willdan, EM Designs Consulting and SHI.

Athletic Director Sandra Wade fittingly won the raffle grand prize in the form of a signed football by Derek Carr and David Carr, donated by EECU.

Before dismissing all staff to work on their mandated trainings at their respective school sites, Beck shared information about two bond measures on the November General Election ballot: Measure W — Yosemite Unified School District, School Facilities Improvement District (SFID) No. 1 Bond and Measure Y — Yosemite Unified School District Bond (www.votemadera.com).
