The track and field team at Mariposa County High School continues to rapidly improve as the Grizzlies set a number of personal best records last weekend.

The team traveled to Buhach Colony High School on March 28 for the Black and Blue Hammar Invitational where they competed with Buhach Colony, Atwater, Chowchilla, Delhi, Denair, El Capitan, Golden Valley, Livingston, Patterson and Waterford.

There were a large number of athletes from MCHS who achieved their personal best so far this season.

On the mens side, in the 100 meter, Joseph Walker had a personal best time of 12.25 while Jeremiah Jackson had a best time of 12.28.

Keenan Johnson had a time of 13.27 and Devin Coca crossed the finish line with a personal best time of 13.43.

Nathaneal Godinez set a personal record of 27.22 in the 200 meter.

During the 400 meter, Mason Rivera (56.71) and Isaiah Diaz (1:03.24) ran their personal best.

For the 110 meter hurdles, Jameson Fournier finished with his best time of 21.40 and Johnson finished with 20.99, also his best time.

The relay teams continue to excel as Jackson, Rusty Bull, Joseph Walker and Braxton Vecchiarelli had a personal best time of 47.24 in the 4×100 relay.

Freshman and sophomores Devin Coca, Peyton Coca, Godinez and Johnson earned a personal best in the 4×100 relay as well with 4:26.31.

Maurice Thomas had his furthest distance in both shot put and discus this season.

He threw 31’11.5” in shot put and 75’5” in discus.

In the long jump, Nathiah Delgrego had a personal best distance of 16’9”.

On the womens side, Alison Wolf and Tania Marquez earned their personal best as Wolf finished with 13.92 and Marquez with 14.45.

Wolf also had a personal best time in the 200 meter with 29.09.

Juno Pike finished the 3200 meter with a personal best of 17:25.58.

The relay team consisting of Wolf, Marquez, Dana Munoz and Cora Grasso had their best time of 57.35 in the 4×100 relay.

In the 4×800 relay, Grasso, Pike, Munoz and Nailea Gonzalez finished with a personal best time of 13:03.40.

Marquez continued to improve in each of her events as she also improved in the high jump with a personal best distance of 14’1”.

The Grizzlies traveled to Yosemite High School in Oakhurst to compete on March 31.

Results were not available at press time.

Next up, the team with travel to Golden Valley High School in Merced for the Bob Prior Memorial Invite on April 2.

Events begin at 10 a.m.
