Important documentary

Documentary about Human Trafficking at Yosemite Cinema, 40015 Highway 49, Oakhurst, hosted by “Olive Charitable Organization.”

There will be a free showing on Saturday, July 11 from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

This documentary sheds light on the realities of human trafficking and the impact it has on individuals, families, and communities, highlighting the challenges survivors face and support available to help rebuild their lives.

Following the screening, there will be a live Q&A session with representatives from Olive Charitable Organization to learn more about human trafficking awareness, prevention and survivor support services in our region.

The showing is for community members, educators, parents, students, service providers and anyone interested in learning more about an issue affecting communities throughout California and beyond.

There is limited seating available.

Open Mic

Open Mic in Oakhurst at Queen’s Inn By the River beer garden and wine bar (41139 Highway 41) from 6:30 – 9 p.m. every Thursday. Hosted by Nicole and Terry Hoke – the event is free to attend and participate.

Senior Lunch Program – Oakhurst

Sierra Senior Center (49111 Cinder Lane) in Oakhurst offers the Madera County Senior Lunch program every Monday through Friday at 11:30am. Pre-register at least one day before by calling (559) 460-6531 or stop by the center to sign up. The center is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for social hours plus Bingo every Thursday and lunch program on Friday – always something happening including painting, Master Gardener preserving and parties.

Senior Lunch Program – Coarsegold

The Coarsegold Community Center (35610 Highway 41) in Coarsegold serves the senior lunch program Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. Those who wish to attend must call (559) 460-6531 the day before to order lunch.

Villager’s Market at Bass Lake

Stop by The Pines Village at Bass Lake every Wednesday from 4 – 7 p.m. for the new Villager’s Market featuring a variety of fruit and veggies along with home baked treats, locally crafted goods and more.

Gold Dust Dancers

Gold Dust Dancers meet for square dancing on Wednesdays in the Pavilion Room at the Oakhurst Community Center from 6-7 p.m. For more information call Richard at (559) 642-2705.

Yosemite Jazz Band

The Yosemite Jazz Band returns to the Pizza Factory (40120 Highway 41) in Oakhurst on Thursday evenings through September from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Children’s Story Time

Raven & Pines Bookstore (40044 Highway 49) in the Old Mill Shopping Center in Oakhurst invites the community to “Little Saplings Story Time” on Thursdays this summer at 11 a.m. for story reading and an activity. For more information phone (559) 658-2665.

Farmers Market in Oakhurst

The Farmers Market at Bryant’s Ace Hardware (40596 Westlake Drive) in Oakhurst on Thursdays from 4-7 p.m. continues weekly through October.

YLP Art in the Park

Ladies of the Lakes in Yosemite Lakes Park invite the community to the third annual YLP Art in the Park in the YLP Clubhouse (30250 Yosemite Springs Parkway) in Coarsegold on Sunday, July 12 from noon to 4 p.m. where 10 local artists will exhibit their artistic talents. Refreshments will be available.

Celebrate Ag with the Arts call to artists

The deadline for the call for artists to submit work for 2026 Celebrate Agriculture with the Arts is July 24. The opening reception for this 33rd year is Aug. 20 and the exhibition closes on Oct. 21 with the show at Madera County Arts Council’s Circle Gallery in Madera. Free hazardous waste drop off

Madera County residents are invited to the annual free household hazardous waste drop-off event at Yosemite High School (50200 School Road/Road 427) in Oakhurst on Saturday, July 25. The collection runs from 8 a.m. to noon. This event is for household hazardous waste only; businesses will not be accepted. Items not accepted include ammunition, bio/bodily waste, large compressed gas cylinders, large appliances, radioactive material, trash and tires. Restrictions include a limit of 15 gallons of liquid or 125 pounds of solids per vehicle, per trip. Collection is on a first come, first served basis with those arriving after noon not being served.

FOBL Library book sale

Friends of the Oakhurst Branch Library (FOBL) will host book sales on seven Saturdays in 2026 at the library located at 49044 Civic Circle in Oakhurst, including Aug. 1 (9 a.m. – 2 p.m.), Oct. 3 Sierra Art Trails Art & Craft Book Sale (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.), Nov. 7 Special Holiday Sale (9 a.m. – 2 p.m.) and Dec. 5 $10/ bag (9 a.m. – 2 p.m.).

Indian Fair Days and Pow Wow

The 54th Annual Indian Fair Days and Pow Wow is set for Aug. 1-2 at the North Fork Recreation Center (33507 Road 230) in North Fork hosted by the Sierra Mono Museum and Cultural Center.
