The Dome Fire grew to six acres in Yosemite Lakes Park on June 30.

Firefighters were quick to knock down a blaze that popped up in Coarsegold last week.

Resources were called out to a vegetation fire just west of North Dome Drive and Quail Court in Yosemite Lakes Park on June 30 after a glow and smoke were spotted on the alert camera for the area.

The fire reportedly broke out about 8:45 p.m.

First responders on scene said the Dome Fire was approximately three to five acres in grass and oak woodland with a slow rate of spread and potential for five to 10 acres, according to Incident Command.

Authorities requested two hand crews, four Type 3 (Wildland) engines and two additional water tenders.

Forward progress of the fire was stopped by 10:40 p.m. and it was contained with full control in about five to six hours with heavy mop-up.
