Editor,
Trump is spending like a drunken sailor.
It’s not Blue vs Red anymore — it’s billionaires against the rest of America. Trump’s out-of-touch spending will continue to raise prices beyond our reach.
We’ve tightened our belts as much as we can, but gas, groceries, insurance and medical bills continue to rise and we can’t keep up. And that was before we started an inexplicable war.
Trump already made deep cuts that seriously hurt rural communities, yet America went $2 trillion in debt in his first year. Trump and his cabinet are spoiled billionaires who travel in private jets that cost at least $3,000 an hour to operate.
Trump has golfed 24 percent of his days in office. They’re all rich yet they vacation on our dime. When was the last time we could afford to vacation? They don’t give a damn about us.
The median gross family income for our county is $64,000. The rent or mortgage for a three bedroom home is at least $2,300. That takes over half of the net monthly income of about $4,000. Add in groceries, energy, phones, internet, gas, car payments, insurance, health premiums, etc., and clearly we cannot afford to live.
We are getting less and less in return for our tax deductions. Cuts to benefits means our only hospital is hanging by a thread. If it shuts down, every person’s life is more at risk and every home loses value.
How does this new war benefit us? We’re paying more for gas and anticipating another 9/11, while he’s spending a billion a day to bomb a Middle Eastern country. It’s deja vu all over again.
Any politician who thinks the average Mariposan can afford to subsidize billionaires and their crazy spending must be eliminated. Looking at you Tom McClintock.
