Heads up!

The first rodeo of the spring season is even earlier in 2026.

The 77th Annual La Grange Rodeo is Sunday, March 29. Rodeo events start at 8 a.m. and people should get there before noon for the queen ceremony.

At 1 p.m is the always popular Grand Entry with flag salute.

It’s all at the La Grange Rodeo Arena overlooking the Tuolumne River canyon, just east of town on Hwy 132. The address is 30433 Yosemite Bouldevard in La Grange.

No dogs are allowed at the rodeo.

Featured events include saddle bronc, bareback riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, team roping, breakaway roping, barrel racing and bull riding.

And don’t forget the famous Goat Scramble for kids 8 and under. Catch the goat and you keep it. There will be plenty of food and refreshments to sample and lots of western gear to help you put on the style.

La Grange Rodeo tickets are $20 at the gate, $15 for kids 6-12, five and under are free. For pre-sale ticket information, check the website LaGrangeRodeoAssociation.com

There you’ll also learn the history, see live action photos from past events as well as bios for the Rodeo Queen candidates.

The La Grange Rodeo Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a rodeo built on the heritage and traditions of the community.

The earliest rodeo of the season, it is also one of the oldest. In 1948 local ranchers organized the first one as part of the Stanislaus County Centennial celebration.

La Grange is on Highway 132, 30 miles east of Modesto, or 30 miles north of Merced on Highway J-59, then 1/2 mile east on Highway 132. It is also just 24 miles west of Coulterville and from Mariposa, visitors can take Hornitos Road to Merced Falls Road to Snelling and then turn north on J-59.
