The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is ongoing through April 14 at the Mariposa Library.
The United Way VITA program will be at the library each Tuesday to offer walk-in tax filing preparation.
This is for individuals or spouses filing jointly who have made $69,000 or less in the 2025 tax year. It is also only available for Mariposa County residents.
Each Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., trained and certified volunteers will help tax filers prepare their taxes. This service will be offered on a first come, first serve basis.
The forms are prepared by the volunteers and then shared with professional tax preparers, who look over the forms to ensure their accuracy. The guest is then presented with the tax return information and can choose whether to submit or go elsewhere.
This service is totally free — absolutely no expenses to those who participate. The library has Frequently Asked Questions forms for those wondering what information to bring, and how the program works in greater detail.
To learn more, stop in or call (209) 966-2140.
The library is located at 4978 10th Street in Mariposa.
