Bernard Junior Lozares, 99, passed peacefully Nov. 12 2025, in Anthem Ariz., nearby his eldest, Brad (Allyson) of Scottsdale, Ariz.

Born to Nora and Bernard Lozares on July 22, 1926, in Salinas Calif., “Barney” enlisted in the Navy at 17 and honorably served his country in the South Pacific during World War II.

Barney and wife Kathy resided in Santa Clara Valley for 34 years, where he partnered in a local insurance firm. Hobbies outside of work were the game of golf and mastering sailing, and he became a member of Los Altos GCC and San Francisco’s St. Francis Yacht Club. He also headed an annual charity golf tournament (Friends Outside) for over a decade.

Post retirement, Barney and his wife of 65 years, Kathleen Hodges Lozares, moved to Catheys Valley. Together they became deeply involved in their new community and made a solid 16 year run as proprietors of a very popular bed and breakfast business.

Adamant about staying at the ranch after the love of his life, Kathy, passed in 2017, Barney kept up with his love for golf, horses and ranch living. Friendships here sustained him thankfully until strokes required a move to Arizona in 2024.

He is survived by daughters Diane (Larry) of California, Jamie (Chip) of California, Donna (Pat) of Texas, Karen ( Jerry 2025) of New York and son, Brad (Allyson) of Arizona along with seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Cowboy rides away … Fade to a bright warm light … Amen
