Ann Casteen Meiggs Parker passed away on Feb. 11, 2026 at the age of 97 in Kingsburg, Calif.

She was born in Norfolk, Va., on Dec. 3, 1928, to Robert and Mabel Meiggs and grew up as the daughter of the sheriff of Deep Creek, Va.

She is survived by her three daughters, Jane Baker (Art) of Modesto, Rebecca Parker (Greg) of Kingsburg and Beth Jimenez (Gilbert) of Ceres; eight grandchildren: Doug, John, Maryann, Laura, Ian, Megan, Lia and Jillian; nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, who along with her friends will sadly miss her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arlis Parker, and son, Doug Parker.

Ann and Arlis moved to Mariposa in 1964 where they worked on the Circle 9 Ranch. In 1967, they moved into the town of Mariposa where Ann worked at the John C. Fremont Hospital and then for Dr. Norman Nichols as office nurse.

Ann was very proud of the associate’s degree she received in 1972 from Merced College and loved the challenges of nursing. One of the things she was most proud of was bringing her grandson John’s poor color to Dr. Nichols’ attention shortly after his birth, which led him to be transferred to Stanford, saving his life.

Ann always loved traveling and she traveled the world visiting all the continents save one. Even to her dying day she would say that she would continue to travel if given the opportunity!

She also loved genealogy and got a huge kick out of having her DNA tested to determine her ancestry.

Ann was a member of First Baptist Church of Mariposa where she cherished her most fond friendships.

Ann’s claim to fame in Mariposa (which her daughter Beth and son-in-law Gilbert have maintained) is the Christmas star made by Arlis nestled on top of the mountain she and Arlis called home.

She will be buried next to Arlis, her mother, Mabel, and her grandson, Garrett in the Mariposa Cemetery.

A memorial is planned on a date to be determined.
