The World Cup watch parties happening at local businesses have been a hit and will continue through the World Cup Final on July 19.
Mariposa has fully embraced the excitement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and it’s been incredible to see the community come together to celebrate the world’s game.
From families cheering shoulder-to-shoulder with visitors during dramatic goals to kids proudly showing up in their world cup USA kits and bringing their World Cup Passports to collect stickers at each event, the energy has been contagious.
One of the biggest highlights so far was the Design Your Own World Cup Ball event at the Mariposa County Library.
Over 40 young artists filled the room with creativity, designing colorful soccer balls inspired by countries, cultures and their love of the game.
“It was wonderful to see so many families participating and sharing their stories behind each design,” said league president Kass Bissmeyer.
Looking ahead, the group is excited for several community events:
• July 4 – Mariposa Soccer’s Fourth of July Parade Float (players and families are invited to join in their USA jerseys.)

• July 12 – Community Mural Painting Party at Woodland Park with Mariposa Arts Council
• July 12 – Mariposa Soccer Adult League 5v5 Tournament at Woodland Park with proceeds benefiting Mariposa County High School varsity soccer teams.
These events are all part of the World Cup Passport Challenge, where participants can collect stickers at each event and earn entries for fun prizes.
Mariposa Soccer would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the amazing local business partners who have helped make this celebration possible by showing lots of World Cup matches: The Grove House, Twisted Cedar & Smokin’ Oak, 1850 Restaurant, Pizza Factory, Sticks Coffee and Don Ruben’s.
Their enthusiasm and support have helped transform Mariposa into a true World Cup community.
The tournament is just getting started. The celebration continues through the Round of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals and all the way to the World Cup Final on July 19.
Whether you’re a lifelong soccer fan or watching your very first match, there’s a place for you in Mariposa’s World Cup celebration.
