The Madera County Elections Office on June 25 shared the nearly-final results of the June 2 primary; only some of the numbers changed and conclusions are about the same.
The race for District 5 supervisor in Eastern Madera County and surrounds remains with Frank Bigelow in the lead with 47.22 percent of the vote followed by Melanie “Mel” Barker with 25.21 percent.
Bigelow currently has 5,367 votes compared to 2,865 for Barker. They will vie for the District 5 seat in the November general election as neither candidate has earned the required 50 percent plus one vote.
A total of 11,366 votes were cast in the District 5 race, with Brook Allen and Mark Reed also on the ballot, coming in third and last, respectively.
Current Supervisor Robert “Bobby” Macaulay did not seek reelection.
In the race for District 1 county supervisor, incumbent Jordan Wamhoff is ahead with 5,972 votes compared with Benjamin J. Martin’s 990 votes.
Incumbent District 2 supervisor David Rogers received 3,096 votes while challenger John Chavez, Jr. received 1,729 votes.
Tricia M. Protzman ran unopposed for the position as county superintendent of schools.
Incumbent assessor Brett Frazier ran unopposed.
Incumbent auditor-controller David E. Richstone received 17,505 votes while challenger Anthony R. Forestiere receiving 8,476 votes.
Incumbent Rebecca Martinez will remain county clerk-recorder as she ran unopposed.
Incumbent tax collector-treasurer Tracy Kennedy also ran unopposed.
As of Friday evening there were 32,619 ballots cast out of 82,432 registered voters in Madera County for a total of 39.57 percent of voters weighing in.
The results were set to be updated again on Friday, June 26, 2026.
The elections office must certify results and submit them to the state by July 3. The secretary of state’s final statement of vote is required for completion by July 10.
