A woman died two days after she was a passenger in a crash in Madera County.
Just before noon on Monday, July 6, CHP Madera officers responded to a solo-vehicle traffic crash at Road 209 south of Road 406.
Officers said a Madera man, 63, was driving a gray 2020 Kia Forte northbound on Road 209, approaching a curve in the roadway. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle veered off the roadway onto the west shoulder and collided with an embankment.
The man suffered minor injuries.
His passenger, later identified as Billie Baker, 84, was also injured and was transported from the scene to Community Regional Medical Center (CRMC) for medical care.
On July 8, Baker was pronounced deceased at CRMC due to the injuries sustained during the crash.
This crash remains under investigation. Both parties were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, officials said. Drugs and/or alcohol did not appear to have been a factor.
