Students danced to classics like “The Twist” and “You Ain’t Nothin’ But a Hound Dog.”

On Saturday, May 9, Monarch Academy High School held its prom, themed “Lost in the Fifties.

Students enjoyed stepping into a 1950s-style diner, dancing to classics like “The Twist,” “The Hand Jive,” and “You Ain’t Nothin’ But a Hound Dog.

This memorable evening was possible thanks to generous community support.

Creekside Terrace donated their community center as the event venue.

Dave Segale volunteered as the evening’s DJ, keeping the music lively throughout the night.

Savemart Supermarket on G Street and Olive Avenue in Merced contributed all of the meat and bread for the event.

Many staff members and volunteers donated their time and energy to ensure the prom ran smoothly, including Shawna Barreiro, Vanessa Lombera, Meghan Sigorotti, Acacia Partida and Teena Kotel.

Marcella Smith and Monarch Academy students extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone whose contributions and hard work helped create a magical and unforgettable experience.
