Larry Townsend captured this early morning image of Bass Lake under a full moon with the osprey nest and one of its inhabitants. “I heard the osprey call out for up the hill, had my camera with me and when I looked up there was a beautiful full moon next to the nest,” Townsend shared on July 31.

Sierra Senior Center (49111 Cinder Lane) in Oakhurst will host a pancake breakfast on Saturday, Aug. 15 from 9-10:30 a.m. with a delicious stack of pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, orange juice and coffee for $10 per adult or $5 for children under 10.
Smoke Readiness Workshop
Yosemite Gateway Prescribed Burn Cooperative will host a Smoke Readiness Workshop on Saturday, Aug. 15 from noon to 4 p.m. at Yosemite Adult School in Oakhurst, covering how wildfire affects air quality, ways to protect from it, differences between wildfire and prescribed smoke and how burn day decisions are made. Craft workshop
The Wildflower Workshop invites the community of all ages to a craft workshop at Sierra Senior Center (49111 Cinder Lane in Oakhurst) on Saturday, Aug. 15 from 4-5 p.m. for “Broccoli Printing,” where organizers will use broccoli to create beautiful, nature-inspired tree paintings and guests can take home their own masterpieces.
