The John C. Fremont Healthcare District currently has two vacant seats on its board. In addition, three seats are up for vote in the November election.

The two seats recently came open with the abrupt resignation of a pair of board members.

Because of this development, the JCF Hospital Foundation is hosting an information session. Learn what being a board member entails, how to apply for a vacant seat immediately and the process for running for office.

The event is Wednesday, May 13, at 5:30 p.m. at the Mariposa County Board of Supervisor chambers.

Current healthcare district board director Rose Fluharty will discuss the roles and responsibilities of the district board.

Danielle Bondshu, Mariposa County Board Clerk, will discuss expectations of a public board and Brown Act highlights.

County Clerk/Elections Official Courtney Progner-Morrow will discuss candidacy filing requirements.

There will be time for questions and answers.

This is going to be an outstanding program,” said Foundation President Heather Bernikoff. The John C. Fremont Healthcare District is a vital institution that saves lives every day; supporting it is a true privilege.

Whether someone is ready to apply, considering a November candidacy or seeking to understand local healthcare governance, this meeting will provide that information.
