Conor Oliphant, a 2025 graduate of Mariposa County High School, graduated from United States Coast Guard boot camp on May 1 and earned the distinction of being the top overall recruit in his company of approximately 100 recruits.

As the top overall recruit, he achieved the highest combined standing in academics, physical fitness and military bearing throughout training.

In recognition of his performance and leadership, he was awarded the Honor Guard Ribbon, an honor he will wear on his Coast Guard uniform throughout his career.

Only 3 percent of Coast Guard graduates earn the Honor Guard Ribbon.

In addition, he was selected as top Company Leader by both his fellow recruits and his Company Commanders — a leadership role reflecting the respect and confidence earned from both peers and instructors during training.

Oliphant was the second youngest recruit in the company, which included men and women ranging in age from 18 to 39 years old.
