Last week, the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) Board Chair and Mariposa County Supervisor Miles Menetrey hosted the June 2026 RCRC Board of Directors meeting in Mariposa County.
The multi-day event included board meetings in Fish Camp, alongside an expansive tour highlighting regional landmarks, agricultural innovation and local historic preservation.
“It was a privilege to host fellow leaders from throughout California here in Mariposa County,” said Menetrey.
“This convening offered a meaningful chance to highlight our region’s rich history, thoughtful stewardship of natural resources, and forward-thinking agricultural practices. I’m sincerely appreciative of the local partners, historians and business owners who welcomed us and shared their knowledge. Their dedication and collaborative spirit reflect the strength and vitality of rural communities across the state.”
The RCRC Board of Directors meeting included discussions on state and federal legislation affecting rural communities, an informational presentation on RCRC’s State Mandate Reimbursement Claims Program and an overview of the 2026 Annual Meeting, among other items.

Supervisors also convened for meetings of RCRC’s affiliate entities, Golden State Finance Authority (GSFA) and the Golden State Connect Authority (GSCA).
GSFA provided an overview of their housing assistance programs, while GSCA updated attendees on efforts to establish an open-access municipal broadband network in rural California.
During the tour, rural leaders visited Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park highlighting the importance of protecting natural resources and sustainable tourism management.
The tour continued with a site visit to Happy Goat Farm to learn about regenerative farming and goat-powered fire prevention and concluded with guided tours of the Mariposa Museum & History Center and the historic county courthouse, highlighting local history and cultural preservation.
RCRC was honored to welcome California State Treasurer Fiona Ma and Department of Fish and Wildlife Director Meghan Hertel, who joined for a portion of the event.
As a longstanding tradition, the RCRC Chair hosts a board of directors meeting in their home county during their tenure.
The June board of directors meeting brought over 40 elected Supervisors and rural county leaders to Mariposa County, offering a firsthand look at the strengths and distinct challenges of rural communities.
