Keep festive charm alive

Editor,

Have you been enjoying the picturesque view of Main Street; the red, white and blue bunting waiving in the breeze, alongside the American flags and “250” banners, adding to the festive charm of our historic little town?

We felt it really added to the 250th celebration on the 4th of July, reflecting our patriotism.

Our gratitude goes out the Mariposa Lions Club, Rotary Club of Mariposa Yosemite, Mariposa Butterfly Festival and Mariposa County Chamber of Commerce whose donations made this possible.

These funds were used for the bunting. The chamber rallied the volunteers who helped put them up along Main Street.

These buntings will be put up each year from Memorial Day through Labor Day. We expect them to last several years!

However, we hope to purchase more to both extend the patriotism further up Main Street and to be able to replace them as they get worn out. This will be an ongoing project for Main Street Mariposa and Mariposa County Business Association.

If you would like to support this project, a donation can be made out to Main Street Mariposa and given to Kris at the Casto Oaks Wine Tasting Room or mailed to P.O. Box 388, Mariposa, CA 95338.

Volunteers to help with the decorations committee are always welcome!

Thank you for your generosity; helping enhance the welcoming historic small-town charm of Main Street, the heart of our community, for visitors and residents alike.
