The Mariposa County Arts Council is proud to present From Here to There, a regional touring exhibition opening May 8 at the Arts Council, located at 5009 Highway 140 in Mariposa.

The exhibition is the inaugural project of the Sierra Seven Arts Alliance, a newly formed regional network of arts organizations working collaboratively to strengthen cultural infrastructure, expand opportunities for artists and build a more connected creative economy across California’s Central and Eastern Sierra.

The Sierra Seven Arts Alliance is led and administered by the Mariposa County Arts Council and includes partners from Arts and Culture Alpine County, Amador County Arts Council, C5 Studios Community Arts Center, Inyo Council for the Arts, Mono Arts Council and Tuolumne County Arts.

This collaboration was made possible through funding from the Sierra Business Council’s Sierra Jobs First initiative, which supports regional strategies for economic resilience, workforce development and sustainable industry growth.

Through this initiative, the Alliance is advancing the role of arts and culture as a key driver of rural economic vitality, particularly within the framework of sustainable tourism and recreation. By investing in cross-county collaboration and shared programming, Sierra Seven strengthens regional networks, expands visibility for artists and fosters deeper connections between communities across the Sierra region.

From Here to There reflects these goals through a dynamic, multi-venue exhibition that will travel across all seven participating counties throughout 2026.

Featuring work from artists across the region, the exhibition offers a rich and varied portrait of the Sierra: its landscapes, ecosystems, communities and cultural identities. The selected works highlight the diverse perspectives and creative voices that define this place, while inviting viewers to consider the relationships between land, people and place.

Artists from Mariposa County featured in the exhibition include Polina Pivak, Barbara Kyne, Hannelore Fischer and Evan Higgins. Their work joins that of artists from across the region, contributing to a broader dialogue about life, creativity and connection in the Sierra.

The exhibition will culminate in a closing reception on Friday, June 5 from 5-7 p.m. at the Mariposa County Arts Council. This event is part of a larger, multi-site downtown celebration and offers an opportunity for community members and visitors to engage with the exhibition and connect with the broader Sierra Seven initiative as well as enjoy the opening night of Music on the Green.

From Here to There provides participating artists with the unique opportunity to share their work with audiences across multiple counties, expanding visibility while contributing to a stronger, more interconnected regional arts ecosystem.

At the same time, it offers residents and visitors alike an opportunity to experience the depth and diversity of artistic expression rooted in the Sierra landscape.

The Sierra Seven Arts Alliance extends its gratitude to the Sierra Business Council and the State of California for their support through the Sierra Jobs First Catalyst funding program.
