Ever since she moved to Mariposa in 2017, Hannelore Fischer M.F.A. has been inspired by the Sierra Nevada and its beauty and keeps painting the granite icons in Yosemite, wildflowers, lakes, rivers and waterfalls she loves.

Her authentic technique in acrylic on canvas is defined by stipple dots, small layered brush marks and a physical buildup of surface. She is a member of the Sierra Artists Gallery in Mariposa and the Yosemite Sierra Artists group in Oakhurst and also exhibits her work at Williams Gallery West in Oakhurst.

This year she has prepared two solo shows.

One is inspired by the area’s amazing landscape, and is titled “Across the Crest: Tufa & Aspen, Granite & Dogwood – Paintings of the Sierra by Hannelore Fischer.”

The selected paintings showcase the great diversity of the natural scenery. Limestone tufa formations and the autumn blaze of aspen contrast against granite giants and waterfalls in Yosemite.

This show begins Aug. 8 at the Mono Lake Committee Bookstore and Gallery, Highway 395 at Third Street in Lee Vining, and will run until the end of December 2026.

The reception will be there on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 4-6 p.m.

The other solo show is a travel inspiration with the title “A Mystical Journey to Peru.”

The gallery exhibit will begin Aug. 1 with the Art Walk Opening reception at the Highland Arts Center, 691 Main Street in Weaverville, and will be on display until Aug. 30. The reception will take place from 5-8 p.m.

This body of work is a visual chronicle of 21 visionary and narrative paintings that took 22 months to complete. It grew out of a two-week deeply transformational journey through the Sacred

Valley and to Lake Titicaca in Peru in June of 2024.

Because this show is some distance from her Mariposa and Oakhurst art friends and art lovers, Fischer created an online show with the same title with the help of Jennifer Moss at Moss Web Works.

This work is entitled Three Brothers and the artist is shown in the photo.
