A man accused of possessing thousands of files containing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and secretly recording guests at his vacation rental is no longer behind bars in Madera County.
Christian Parmalee Edwards, 44, was released from jail on a $75,000 bond.
Originally held on $225,000 bail, he was released following bail reduction at his court hearing April 6. Prior to this arrest, Edwards reportedly had no criminal record.
On March 19, authorities seized at least 30 devices with more than 4,000 digital files containing
CSAM which were located during the execution of a search warrant at Edwards’ home on Granite Butte Way in Oakhurst.
Edwards was reportedly living on the third floor of the home while he used the first and second stories as short-term vacation rentals, both with online companies and private bookings.
MCSO said they also uncovered evidence suggesting Edwards recorded guests without their knowledge at his home, which he used as a short-term vacation rental.
Madera County Sheriff Tyson Pogue said detectives found disturbing items in Edwards’ home including a childlike sex doll with its hands bound.
Edwards is currently charged with a single felony count for his possession of CSAM.
The case remains under investigation.
A photo of the two-story, three-bedroom home was provided by MCSO to alert possible victims who may have rented the property.
Authorities encourage anyone with information regarding this case or potential victims to contact Detective Eder Andrade at (559) 517-7997 or MCSO at (559) 675-7770.
Edwards is due to return to court on April 16 for a prelim setting. He is represented by the Madera law firm of Fitzgerald, Alvarez & Ciummo.
