The Madera County Board of Supervisors on June 2 unanimously voted to approve the appointment of three key county leadership positions in multiple departments.

The newly appointed are Jamie Bax, Jared Carter and Nickie Matus.

Bax will now serve as the county’s Chief of Development Services overseeing Community and Economic Development and Public Works.

Bax led a broad range of complex planning, development and regulatory functions including oversight of planning and code enforcement, building inspection, environmental health and fire prevention operations.

The board also appointed Carter as the new Director of Public Works and the County Road Commissioner.

Carter has overseen multi-million dollar infrastructure and transportation improvement programs, managed departmental and division budgets, secured and administered local, state and federal funding and directed engineering and operational activities for critical county services.

Behavioral Health Sciences welcomed Matus (muh-tuse) as their new director.

Matus possesses extensive leadership experience spanning more than 17 years overseeing complex behavioral health, child welfare and tribal community programs.

Combined, Bax, Carter and Matus bring nearly six decades of experience in their respective fields with nearly all of it in Madera County.

Madera County’s greatest strength is our dedicated employees and the commitment they bring to serving our communities every day,” said District 5 Supervisor Bobby Macaulay, chair of the board of supervisors.

The promotion of these amazing individuals is further evidence that Madera County is the best place to live, work and play. I am confident each of them will provide strong leadership, continue building outstanding teams and help Madera County deliver the high quality services our residents deserve.
