The Madera County candidate filing period for the Nov. 3 general election opened on Monday, July 13 and will continue through Friday, Aug. 7 at 5 p.m.
Candidates should visit www.votemadera.com and click the “Schedule Candidate Filing Appointment” button at the top of the homepage to schedule an appointment.
Appointments are required. Walk-ins will not be accepted.
July 13-Aug. 7: Nomination and Declaration of Candidacy period.
Aug. 8 – Aug. 12: Extended Nomination and Declaration of Candidacy period (extends only if an incumbent fails to file by deadline and does not apply to an office for which there is no incumbent).
Candidates for city offices are required to obtain nomination signatures from registered voters as part of their qualification to run for office.

Pursuant to Elections Code Section 10515, if there is an insufficient number of nominees, the supervising authority shall make appointments.
