A young man visiting Eastern Madera County from the San Diego area and reported missing from Oakhurst was found deceased after a multi-day, multi-agency search.
Dau “Christopher” Pham, 29, was last seen in Oakhurst on Thursday, July 9, according to the Madera County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).
Authorities asked for the public’s help in locating Pham who was said to have been headed toward Yosemite, Angel Falls, Bass Lake or Sierra National Forest trails.
Pham was described as an Asian male, approximately 5 feet, 3 inches and weighing about 100 pounds. Authorities said he was considered “at risk” and was last seen wearing a light green sweater/jacket, olive green face mask and khaki pants while carrying a blue backpack and a sunflower umbrella.
Over the course of the investigation into Pham’s disappearance, MCSO deputies, detectives, Search and Rescue (SAR) personnel and volunteers spent “countless” hours following leads, conducting searches and working tirelessly to locate Pham.
A reported eyewitnesses said Pham was later spotted walking north on Highway 41 above Reimer’s Candies & Ice Cream, at Mathews Fine Furniture in Oakhurst and above Cedar Valley.
A statement from MCSO said law enforcement was grateful for the tips and leads provided by the public and through media which were immensely helpful in the investigation. They were also appreciative of the unwavering commitment of everyone involved in the search.
On Tuesday, July 14 Pham was found deceased in the Oakhurst area. Officials said no foul play was suspected.
MCSO said no further details would be released at this time out of respect for Pham’s family and their privacy.
