There is a new leadership team in place at the Mariposa County Fire Safe Council.

The board of the group has announced that Lacey Sharp is the new executive director of the council and Caroline Fruth has been named as the office manager.

This comes on the heels of the retirement of former director Barbara Cone and former office manager Patti Burgess.

The board of Mariposa Fire Safe Council praised the work done by Cone and Burgess for “revitalizing” the organization.

Sharp has been actively involved in advancing wildfire mitigation efforts throughout the region and “brings a strong background in land stewardship, fuels management and community collaboration,” according to a press release.

In her new role as executive director, Sharp will continue the mission of expanding fuels reduction projects, strengthening partnerships and increasing community engagement in defensible space and preparedness.

Fruth brings “organizational leadership, financial oversight and administrative strength to the team,” according to the press release.

Her work will support the continued growth and operational stability of the council as it manages an expanding portfolio of projects and programs.

Together, Sharp and Fruth represent a new chapter for the Mariposa County Fire Safe Council, one grounded in both respect for the organization’s history and forward-looking vision for wildfire resilience in Mariposa County,” said a statement from the board in the release.
