Sierra Foothill Charter School (SFCS), a free, non-profit, TK-8 public school located at 4952 School House Road in Catheys Valley, is accepting New Student Intent to Enroll forms and Continuing Student Re-enrollment forms as of Tuesday, Jan. 20 as part of its open enrollment period for the 2026-2027 school year.

Open enrollment continues through Monday, April 13 at 4 p.m.

As a public school, SFCS is nonsectarian, tuition-free and does not test or assess students in any way prior to admission, just as all other public schools in California.

Any grade TK-8 student living in Mariposa County, or a county adjacent to Mariposa, is welcome to attend SFCS.

Those interested in having their children attend SFCS in 2026-2027, either in their homeschool or in-seat program, are encouraged to submit Intent to Enroll forms by April 13.

Forms can be picked up at the school or downloaded from the SFCS website: sierrafoothillcharterschool.org

To have the form mailed, emailed or faxed, call the school office at (209)742-6222.

It is important to note that the waiting list does not carry over from year to year.

If you have a child on the waiting list for this 2025-2026 school year and would like your child to attend in 2026-2027, you will need to re-submit a New Student Intent to Enroll form by the April 13 deadline.

If the number of students wishing to attend SFCS exceeds its capacity, SFCS will hold a random public drawing (lottery) on Thursday, April 16 at 5 p.m. on campus.

If a lottery becomes necessary, existing students are guaranteed enrollment and will be exempt as long as Continuing Student Re-enrollment forms are submitted during the open enrollment period.

Siblings of enrolled students are also exempt from the lottery and will be offered admission if space is available, taken in the order that enrollment forms are received.

If SFCS holds a lottery, students will be notified of admission or position on the waiting list by mail following the lottery.

Families may also contact the office to check on placement status.

Registration packets will be made available soon after.

If a lottery is not necessary, students will continue to be admitted after April 13 in the order that enrollment forms are received until such time as classrooms become full.

Once classrooms are full, interested parties will be placed on a waiting list and will be contacted if space becomes available.

All who are interested in attending SFCS in 2026-2027 but would like more information are encouraged to call the school office at (209) 742-6222.
