Mariposa County High School’s golf team gathered at River Creek Golf Course last week on April 22 to honor their seniors before teeing off.

All four members of the team are seniors this year, which include Konnor Lobaugh, Celina Heard, Noah Lilley and Paige Peters.

The amount of time I’ve been able to spend with them isn’t a whole lot unfortunately,” said coach Steve Lobaugh.

They’re young adults now. I think they’ve found themselves on a different side of life and I’m thankful I get to share that with them.

Peters has been playing golf for one year.

After graduation she plans to attend the University of Utah to major in biology on a pre-med pathway,” Lobaugh read.

Her favorite memory was the “first and only time she beat Konnor on one hole.

This has been Heard’s second season playing on the golf team.

After graduation she plans to attend Cal Poly SLO to major in event planning then become a high school PE teacher to coach in Mariposa,” Lobaugh continued.

Heard thanked her parents for their support and also Peters, who has “made the season fun.

Lilley has been playing golf for two years.

Noah plans on attending Sonora College for fire,” said Lobaugh.

His favorite memory was drifting golf carts in the pouring rain and flying through the window with an undisclosed friend.

Konnor Lobaugh has been playing golf with MCHS for three years.

He plans on attending college in Utah,” the coach said.

His favorite memory was also playing in the pouring rain with Noah.

Konnor thanked his dad for coaching the team so he could play his senior year.

I think each one of them kind of struggled at the beginning, but we’ve been working,” the coach explained.

They’ve completely excelled and it’s been a pretty good season. It’s sad that it was short but I’m proud of them and they’re continuing to do well.
