The Mariposa Youth Business Fair is returning to the community for the third time this year.

This free, one-day marketplace for children ages six to 17, will be held on May 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Mariposa County Courthouse lawn.

The event provides an opportunity for children to launch their own startup businesses and discover their inner entrepreneur, develop a brand, create a product or service and build a marketing strategy.

Children who participate get the opportunity to experience running a business while making a little extra money and making new friends.

This event is also a great way for kids to gain leadership experience and practice their speaking and social skills.

In only one year, the event has grown significantly with over 200 people attending last year, organizers said.

With many sponsorships opportunities available, organizers are planning for an even larger event this year.

The event is now supported by Mariposa Dream Builders, a nonprofit organization, (see more at www.mariposadreambuilders.org) which means donations are now tax-deductible.

The largest entrepreneurship event for kids in North America, the first Acton Children’s Business Fair took place in Austin, Texas, in 2007.

That year, there were seven entrepreneurs and around 25 attendees. Now, there are over 115 entrepreneurs and 1,500 attendees at the Acton Children’s Business Fair in Austin.
