Nancy Soden

Nancy Jean Soden went home to be with her Lord and her loved ones on Friday, May 8 in Oakhurst.

She was born on Oct. 15, 1938 to a beautiful and loving family in Pasadena, Calif.

She married Bill Soden on Nov. 22, 1958, in Ojai, Calif. after meeting him at a roller skating rink in Oxnard. Beginning their life together in Ojai, they went on to have three children, nine grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

After living in Ojai they moved to Livermore, Ripon and finally to Mariposa.

Her husband Bill delivered propane for VanGas and Suburban. He went home to the Lord on Oct. 31, 2018.

Mrs. Soden” worked as a teacher’s aide, lunch lady and office help at Woodland Elementary School in Mariposa from 1978-2000.

Nancy and Bill both loved living in Ponderosa Basin and Nancy’s favorite pastime was to sit on her deck seeing the flowers and the trees and breathing in the mountain air while watching the wildlife walk by and the planes fly overhead in the bright blue sky.

They both loved Jesus and attended Ponderosa Basin Chapel for many years.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Rodney Herring and Dorothy Herring, her brother Ralph Herring and her loving husband William “Bill” Soden. All but her brother were Mariposa residents.

She is survived by her sister, Betty King of Ventura; her son, Ken Soden of Mariposa; her daughter, Wendy Moschitto and Santo Moschitto of Utah; her son Robert Soden and Reatha Soden of Arkansas and her nine grandchildren: Scott Soden, Dave Soden, Derek Soden, Joe Moschitto, Mary Rietz, Anna Moschitto, Jason Soden, Sarah Farrell and Steven Soden along with their spouses and children.

Nancy had a beautiful smile and was a beautiful light to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed as she runs into the arms of Jesus, her parents, her brother and her husband.

Our hearts are broken but her new life is just beginning.
