The Mariposa County Unified School District has announced it is seeking applicants for two vacant positions on its Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee.
This citizens committee is a legal requirement associated with the passage of Measure L, which authorizes district officials to sell general obligation bonds to fund school facilities projects.
According to California Education Code, the prescribed functions of the committee are as follows:
1. Inform the public. The committee shall inform the public concerning the district’s expenditure of bond proceeds.
2. Review expenditures. The committee shall review expenditure reports to ensure that the bond proceeds were expended only for the purposes set forth in Measure L and that no bond proceeds have been used for teacher or administrative salaries or other operating expenses.
3. Annual report. At least once annually, the committed shall prepare an annual written report, the findings of which should be summarized to the school board in public session.
The vacant positions are a member active in a senior citizens organization and a parent member.
Anyone interested should submit an application for consideration.
The application is available at the MCUSD District Office (5082 Old Highway North) and through the district’s website at www.mcusd.org/District/Department/18-School-Board/1303-Citizens-Bond-Oversight-Committee.html
