Masuda knows our issues

Editor,

The primary election is coming up, which means that we all have a chance to register our opinion of Donald Trump’s presidency through our vote for our congressional representative.

We have been represented by Tom McClintock for several years now. Some of us have never been happy with him. I personally was disgusted with his vote against the Violence Against Women Act and with his forest bill which would allow logging in national forests, hidden in a bunch of wording suggesting protection of said forests, unless it gets too expensive.

So, why should my conservative friends vote against McClintock? I can point to nothing more horrific than Trump’s Easter Day social media post threatening to destroy Iran’s entire civilization. McClintock supports him without reservation. Votes with him always.

Let us move on to the economy. Has Trump’s war been good for your pocketbook? No, it has not. The only people who benefited are those in Trump’s inner circle who invested in oil and defense prior to the war.

What about those tariffs? Did you or America at large really benefit from them? Farmer’s across the country are losing their farms because the world is not buying their grains.

Did McClintock do anything to exercise congress’s power of the purse to stop either the war or the tariffs? No, he did not.

I’m hoping that many of my conservative friends will agree that someone needs to check Trump’s megalomania. The group tasked by the constitution with that job is the congress and the congress is not doing it’s job.

Therefore, I hope you will give Michael Masuda a chance to represent you and support your needs. Michael is not a raving left wing radical. He even voted against Prop 50 for ethical reasons.

He is an engineer who has been trained to solve problems. He also has experience with Washington, D.C., as he worked for the Department of Defense and the State Department helping to evaluate technology initiatives.

I believe he would represent us well and look out for our needs.
