Mariposa Certified Farmers’ Market recently announced that it has been accepted into the Ecology Center’s Market Match program.

This program is California’s Healthy Food Incentive program that matches customers’ CalFresh nutrition assistance benefits at farmers’ markets and other farm-direct sites.

It is funded mainly by the Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program and the California Nutrition Incentive Program.

Market Match is distributed by over 50 community-based organizations and farmers’ market operators at over 270 sites across the state.

The farmers’ market in Mariposa is now one of these sites.

The farmers’ market already accepts EBT/SNAP market-wide.

When you swipe your EBT/SNAP card at the market, you receive wooden tokens to then use at any booth at the market that sells eligible items (fruits, vegetables, meat, breads, baked goods, honey, mushrooms, jams and jellies, etc.).

Now, with Market Match, you can get up to $15 matched (free to you) in Market Match tokens that can only be used on fresh fruit, vegetables and mushrooms.

If you swipe your EBT/SNAP card for $10 in EBT tokens, you will then get $10 in Market Match tokens for free.

If you swipe your EBT/SNAP card for $20 in EBT tokens, you will then get only $15 in Market Match tokens for free.

These tokens do not expire and you do not need to use them that day.

You are only allowed up to $15 in Market Match per day at the farmers’ market.

Organizers are grateful to have been accepted into the Market Match family and are excited to provide this program for the community.

The produce at the farmers’ market is freshly harvested, grown and sold by the farmers themselves at the market.

Come check out the farmers’ market. Your support of purchasing direct from local farmers helps the community.

The Mariposa Certified Farmers’ Market is open on Wednesdays from 4:30-6:30 p.m. (May-October) and is located at 5029 Stroming Road in Mariposa.
