One man is dead after an early-morning single vehicle accident near Bass Lake last week.

Just before 4 a.m. on Friday, May 1, CHP Oakhurst officers responded to a call of a solo vehicle rollover crash on Road 274 at Fawn Point Lane in Bass Lake, according to officials.

CHP said the driver, identified by the Madera County Coroner’s Office as Oregon resident Hormoz Kermani, 72, was traveling northbound on Road 274 approaching Fawn Point Lane at an unknown speed in a 2009 Dodge Ram 2500.

For an unknown reason, they said, Kermani was unable to negotiate a sharp curve, causing his vehicle to leave the east roadway edge and overturn. The truck struck a tree and rock boulders as it overturned.

The Dodge Ram came to rest on its roof about 30 feet down an embankment facing southwest. Officials said Kermani was wearing his seat belt and was pinned inside the vehicle.

Emergency personnel arrived on scene and provided life-saving measures but Kermani died from his injuries. The crash is under investigation.

CHP encouraged anyone with information related to the crash to contact the CHP Oakhurst Area office and direct inquiries to Public Information Officer J. Butthereit at (559) 658-6590.

Officer J. Aguilar is the investigating officer.
