Comedy show at Firehouse Lounge

Three comedians take the stage at the Firehouse Lounge at Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino (711 Lucky Lane) in Coarsegold every first Friday of the month including Aug.7 with shows at 8 and 10 p.m.

Wawona Barn Dance

Step back in time and join a traditional barn dance at the Gray Barn at the Yosemite History Center (4100 Forest Drive) in Wawona inside Yosemite National Park on Saturday, Aug. 8.

The family-friendly evenings celebrate music, movement and early settler traditions with live American folk music, guided dance steps and plenty of chances to swing your partner.

Bass Lake Live – Sceleton Kru

The band Sceleton Kru plays classic and modern rock from the 1970s to the 2010s and they’ll perform live on the Gazebo Deck at The Pines Resort at Bass Lake on Wednesday, Aug. 12 with doors open at 6:30 p.m. for dinner if preferred and playing through 10 p.m. For tickets and information visit www.basslake.com. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Craft workshop

The Wildflower Workshop invites the community of all ages to a craft workshop at Sierra Senior Center (49111 Cinder Lane in Oakhurst) on Saturday, Aug. 15 from 4-5 p.m. for “Broccoli Printing,” where organizers will use broccoli to create beautiful, nature-inspired tree paintings and guests can take home their own masterpieces. Join the UC Master Gardeners of Madera County at Sierra Senior Center (49111 Cinder Lane) in Oakhurst on Friday, Aug. 28 from 1-2:30 p.m. for a workshop covering the basics of irrigation including the different types and drip systems. The workshop is free and open to the public. September’s workshop is on native plants and attracting pollinators – more info to come.

Mountain Mama clothing swap

The Mountain Mama Clothing Swap will take place on Saturday, Aug. 29 from 3-7 p.m. at the Coarsegold Community Center (35610 Highway 41), organized by Kristen Dutey. Donations will be accepted until Aug. 23. Families are invited to browse donated children’s clothing, shoes, toys, books and baby items completely free of charge.
