The Mariposa County Library has set a date for a celebration around its 100th anniversary.
The library will be hosting an event on Friday, Nov. 13 from 4-7 p.m. in partnership with the Mariposa Friends of the Library.
A library system in Mariposa County was first instituted in 1926.
The event is free to attend and will feature a 1920s theme. Guests are invited to dress up in 1920s attire if they choose. Music from that era will be played, and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
The library staff will highlight some of its services and will be able to answer questions from community members.
There will also be games and activities for all ages. The Friends of the Library will have an information table and will be accepting donations from those who would like to support the library.
“This library belongs to the community, and we want as many people to attend as possible,” said Mariposa County Librarian Matt Johnson. “The library has meant so many different things to people over the years and we want those who have benefited from the library to attend, as well as those who might be curious about the library who want to learn more.”
