Judy Ann Griffin was born to Roy E. Roberts Jr. and Mary Jane (House) Roberts on Nov. 28, 1949, in Burlington, Iowa.

She is the sister of Larry, Russ and Jack Roberts. The family moved from Iowa to California in 1952 and settled in Downey, Calif., for eight years. They lived in Loveland, Colo., between 1959 to 1963.

In 1963 the family finally settled in Midpines. Judy attended and graduated from Mariposa County High School in 1967.

Following high school, she attended a junior college majoring In business. Judy began her career as a restaurant server at the turn of the 1970s in Merced, Mariposa, El Portal and lastly at the Merced River’s Cedar Lodge.

She met and married Thomas Paul “Griff” Griffin in 1971. Their daughter, Stacey Ann, joined the family in 1972.

Judy began her second career with the National Park Service in Yosemite. She focused primarily on positions and tasks associated with its maintenance division. She especially liked her time in the Tuolumne Meadows area where she seasonally accompanied her husband.

Judy died March 26, 2026, in a Modesto hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son-in-law, Martin Counts.

Survivors include her daughter, Stacey (Brian Warren), and brothers Larry, Russ and Jack Roberts. She’s also survived by her sister-in-law, Barb Rahoe.

No services are currently planned and an informal gathering of family and friends will take place at a later date.
