Griz hitting a groove as they earn three consecutive wins

The Mariposa County High School varsity softball team picked up their third consecutive win last week as they shutout Gustine 17-0.

After falling to Le Grand 10-0 on April 15, the Grizzlies found their stride and took the win over Denair with a final score of 11-1 on April 17.

Just a few days later MCHS took down the Hawks at Delhi on April 22 with a final score of 13-3.

Their third win in a row came against the Reds at Gustine where the Grizzlies were the visiting team on April 24.

MCHS shut out the Reds with a monster score of 17-0.

Everyone was a factor for the team against Gustine as every player on the roster made the score sheet.

Brielle Martin recorded a hit while Tylie Allison finished with one run, two hits, four RBI and a double.

Josey Williams had one hit and double while Kallie Wass finished with three runs, four hits, one RBI and a double.

Kylee Hutchings has been consistent as she recorded two runs, two hits, two RBI and two doubles.

Emma Pioske scored a run while Taylor Krull went 5-for-5 at the plate.

She had five hits, three runs, two RBI and a double for the Grizzlies.

Gillian Pioske finished the afternoon with one hit, one run, one RBI and a triple along with one stolen base.

Junior Grace Beery had a hit while Mikaylee Martin scored two runs, had two hits, three RBI and a double.

Dakota Costa recorded two hits along with Bailey Costa, who also had two hits and two stolen bases.

After the win over Gustine, the Grizzlies sat with a record of 7-2 in league, leaving them in third place.

MCHS had a break from league action as they traveled to Minarets to face the Mustangs on April 28.

Results were not available at press time.

Next up, the Grizzlies will be back at it against the Wildcats at Waterford on May 1.

Game time is 4 p.m.
