Griz continue to raise bar in track and field

The Track and Field team at Mariposa County High School continues to raise the bar as many of the Grizzlies continue to set personal best records.

On Friday, April 3, MCHS traveled to the Bob Pryor Memorial Invite to compete with the 10 other teams who were present.

New personal bests on the mens side

In the 100 meter, Rusty Bull and Jeremiah Jackson continue to fly as both set a new personal record.

Bull finished with 12.11 and Jackson recorded a time of 12.15.

Nathaneal Godinez set a personal best time of 26.43 in the 200 meter.

Keenen Johnson and Jameson Fournier jumped past their previous personal bests in the 110 meter hurdles.

Johnson finished with 20.75 while Fournier finished with 21.33.

Isaiah Diaz has a new personal record in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 57.81.

The mens relay teams continue to excel as Bull, Jackson, Nathiah DelGrego and Mason Rivera improved their time to 49.96 in the 4x 100 meter relay.

In the shot put, Maurice Thomas improved his distance to 29’1” while Michael Evans Jr. set a new personal best of 27’10.5”.

Liam Davis and Thomas set new personal records in the discus event.

Davis threw 87’5” while Thomas finished with 82’7”.

New personal bests on the womens side

Alison Wolf has a new personal best in the 200 meter with 28.71 while Nailea Gonzalez raised the bar in the 800 meter.

Gonzalez recorded a new personal best of 3:06.83.

The 4×100 meter relay team consisting of Tania Marquez, Dana Munoz, Lily Peters and Wolf set a new personal best of 57.10.

The second 4×100 meter relay team made up Harmony Fournier, Cora Grasso, Allie Sanders and Aria Kornaros also set a new personal best as they finished with 1:03.65.

In the 4×800 meter relay, Gonzalez, Grasso, Munoz and Harmony Fournier set a new personal record of 12:34.69.

Gonzalez also set a personal best in the discus event with a distance of 56’8”.

The team had their third Southern League meet on Wednesday, April 15.

Results were not available at press time.

Next up, the Grizzlies will be at Yosemite High School in Oakhurst on April 28 to compete with the Badgers among others.

Events begin at 3 p.m.
