HOW supporters will gather for a meal on Tuesday, April 21, to honor Coarsegold resident Genna Parker.

The dinner will take place at Bee’s Bakery Cafe in Oakhurst and doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Parker’s dinner is sponsored by Tania Reed.

HOW is centered on uplifting monthly community dinners for women who have suffered a devastating loss. Sponsorship opportunities are available. The HOW leadership team includes Kim Morris, Jennifer Snyder, Molly Taylor and Amanda Feil.

Genna’s story

Parker has been a dedicated member of the mountain community for more than 30 years, according to HOW.

She is a mother of four, a grandmother of 11 and someone who has always shown up for others. Whether helping neighbors, supporting the sick and elderly or caring for her family, Parker has been a steady and giving presence in the foothills.

HOW said Genna has built a life centered on caring for others and now she is facing one of the most difficult times of her life as her wife, Julie, was battling a serious medical crisis.

After experiencing sudden and severe pain, Julie was hospitalized and diagnosed with colitis. Her condition quickly worsened, leading to a bowel perforation that required emergency surgery.

She was fighting sepsis and multiple infections and, as a result of surgery and complications, Julie had only a small portion of her intestine remaining while her lungs and circulation were also significantly affected.

Sponsor Tania Reed said Parker has given so much to those around her and this is a time for the community to surround her with that same care and support.

Please join us in supporting Genna,” said Reed and the HOW team.Come show your love, encouragement and solidarity.
