The Mariposa Fire Safe Council will host Ember Stomp on May 30 at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds, bringing together a full day of fire preparedness education, family-friendly activities and a community fundraiser supporting local wildfire resilience efforts.
From noon to 4:30 p.m., the community is invited to attend the Fire and Emergency Preparedness Event, held in collaboration with Mariposa Safe Families and the University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources Fire Network.
This free, family-friendly event will feature informational booths, interactive exhibits and hands-on activities designed to help residents prepare for wildfire and other emergencies.
Local agencies and organizations, including the Mariposa Fire Safe Council, Mariposa Safe Families, CAL FIRE, Mariposa County Fire, Mariposa Resource Conservation District and additional community partners will provide resources and education on defensible space, home hardening, evacuation planning and emergency readiness.
Activities will include local vendors, firefighter skills competitions, pedal car races, kids’ costume play, free face painting and educational opportunities for all ages.
Some activities may include a small participation fee, but the preparedness event remains free and open to the public.
The evening dinner fundraiser will run from 6 to 11 p.m. It will feature a buffet farm-style community dinner, live music by Scott Patrick, a meal prepared by Chef Sadie, wine donated by The Local Grape and live and silent auctions.
Dinner tickets are limited to 200 guests and cost $100.
