All aboard! New York Times bestselling author Chris Epting will share tales from his book, “Theodore Roosevelt in California — the Presidential Journey that Saved the Wilderness,” at a few different stops along the Yosemite southern gateway region this week.
Epting is the author of 40 travel/history books including “James Dean Died Here” and “Dispatches from a Pop Culture Junkie.” He’s an award-winning travel writer and memoir writer and has co-written works with Phil Collens of Def Leppard and John Oats and the Doobie Brothers.
Epting is currently celebrating the anniversary of Roosevelt’s storied trip to Yosemite.
He’ll reveal lesser-known stories about Roosevelt’s adventure, Lincoln’s role in protecting Yosemite and the brave Black soldiers who guarded Roosevelt.
The author will be at Raven & Pines Bookstore (40044 Highway 49) in Oakhurst on Friday, May 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
He’ll appear later that same day at Fresno Flats Historic Village and Park (49777 Road 427) in Oakhurst from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
And attendees at the author’s lecture in Fish Camp will experience history as never before with a campfire and ride-along in first class at Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad (56001 Highway 41) on Saturday, May 16 from 4-6 p.m.
