It was an epic evening when a cackling costumed coven charmed their way into the sunset for the annual Bass Lake Witches and Warlocks Paddle on Saturday, Oct. 10.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better night,” said Tanea Evans, a repeat participant.

“It was probably my favorite year so far. The weather was phenomenal and we had a pretty great turnout with a fun group of new and old witchy friends.”

This is the seventh year the free and enchanting paddle event (and sometimes its corollary dance) has been organized by locals. Plans are underway to streamline things for 2027 while still retaining all the core elements of the groovy grass roots event.

“Thank you to everyone who participated and to Bass Lake Boat Rentals for the use of their docks,” Evans said. “And to all the ladies who helped with putting this year’s event together — you are all magic! Until next year, witches!”
