The results are in … and the Mariposa County High School volleyball team will host Amador Buffaloes in the first round of the 2026 playoffs.
The game was scheduled for Tuesday. Results will be in next week’s edition.
“I have no thoughts so far, and will have to do some research. We haven’t seen them at any tournaments this year, or even in past years, so they’ll be completely new to us,” said MCHS head coach Holly Earling.
Amador enters with a record of 15-9, and the team went 10-4 in Sierra Valley Conference League play, good for second place. Mariposa, meanwhile, went 27-10 overall and 14-0 in Southern League play, clinching their league championship.
Coach Earling said she is hoping rust won’t be a factor for her players. Some of them attended the national Future Farmers of America (FFA) convention last week and therefore the team did not hold any games.
“We had some limited practices with the girls that were home this week (and some of the junior varsity girls who came and helped us out) and mostly worked on our serve receive, which I was happy with how that went,” said Earling.
“We’ll be able to have one practice on Monday to hopefully shake most of the rust off for the rest of the girls. I think we’ll be able to lock back in — as the girls like to say — pretty quickly. They’ve been waiting all year to get to this stage, so I think they’ll be ready.”
