The UC Cooperative Extension Service has a lot of events planned in the coming weeks.
The 2026 Cover Crop Field Day is scheduled for April 24 and will feature tours of two local farms.
The tours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. People are asked to meet at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds where they will depart for the farms.
From 9-11 a.m., they will be at Happy Goat Farm. From there, they will be going to The Farm at Worman Mill from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
At Happy Goat Farm, there will be a variety of demonstrations, it will show the benefits of cover crops in the foothills and no-till management options for small farms will be discussed.
At The Farm at Worman Mill, cover crops for orchards will be viewed, there will be a pumpkin patch discussion, tillage and orchard management will be discussed as will funding opportunities through the NRCS programs.
Organizers remind participants the event is outdoors. Water and light snacks will be available and it is recommended people bring their own water for the bus ride. If people want to drive themselves, they must notify officials in advance.

Orchard information
On Tuesday, April 21, a Regenerative Almond
Orchard Field Day will be held.
“Thinking through planting a new orchard using regenerative practices,” is the theme for the event.
It will be held at the UC Merced Smart Farm located at 5200 North Lake Road in Merced.
This is the first time for such an event and the “purpose of the field day is to present, demonstrate and discuss options for planting a new almond orchard using regenerative practices,” according to UCCE officials.
The program begins with registration at 8:30 a.m. and there will be several speakers on various topics throughout the morning.
After a break, more presentations will take place from 10:50 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Topics include infiltration and ground water recharge, cover crop selection and much more.
Lunch will be provided from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Pre-registration guarantees lunch for those in attendance.

Grazing information
On Thursday, April 30, a Regenerative Grazing Workshop is scheduled.
It will be held at 22323 East Monte Vista Avenue in Snelling. The workshop is from 8:30 a.m. (registration) to 3 p.m.
The cost is $29 and lunch is included.
It will include live demonstrations, sessions led by experts, hands-on experience and a question and answer session.
