The seasons and how those connect to life

Have you ever noticed how closely related to nature’s seasons our human cycles are?

I have noticed that when I’m in a city environment, especially for a prolonged period of time, that my body is thankful when it gets back to the “nature” part of the country.

While it’s a lot of work to live out here (I don’t miss the work), my body misses the nature part of the country when it’s in the city or a similar environment.

I notice that my own “seasons” are closely linked to nature’s seasons. Each season of the year has a meaning or symbolizes something.

Spring represents a time of renewal and new beginnings; summer is considered a season of energy, joy and abundance; autumn represents transformation and letting go while winter is a time for rest and introspection.

If we look at spring as being a season of renewal and new beginnings, we notice this is the season that we open our windows and let the fresh air in. This is the season that we plant seeds in the garden and the farmer plants new crops in the fields.

Our deep breath of spring is fresh and new.

When we consider summer, we see a life rhythm full of energy and positive thoughts. The days are longer, the sunshine warmer. We feel energized and happier and our gardens that were planted in Spring are growing and thriving. It is a season of energy, joy and abundance.

Autumn, or fall, is about transformation, transition and letting go. The last of the garden fruit, vegetables and flowers are picked and the garden is bedded down for winter. The crops in the fields are harvested and the soil is turned. The thriving growth of summer has been transformed into a slower energy. We have let go of summer and are moving into preparation for winter.

Winter arrives and is a time for rest, introspection and reflection. The days are shorter, there is less sunshine and our energy is lower. We tend to turn inward and reflect on life; the past, the future.

After winter is spring and now, we have completed a year of nature’s seasons. Notice for yourself how your body, your energy, your mind, reacts to the seasons. Notice how it’s similar (or not) to nature’s seasons.

What do you see for yourself?
