Support Bissmeyer for board

Editor,

Ruth Sellers was my good friend for many years. I visited her the day before she passed and I promised to keep up her work, being involved and write letters to the editor about important matters.

A county supervisor is one of five people who oversee all of the county departments. They control how the money flows in each department under them, and all departments are under their purview. Decisions at county level that affect people’s lives are decided by this panel.

The ideal candidate would be a local person with deep roots in Mariposa, who understands how the county departments operate and interact, with lived experience to know where we were and how exactly we got here and who has a demonstrated history of helping others both in work and community service.

This person would not be seeking this position for personal gain or an agenda, but truly be an altruist who can bring unique skill sets to the position.

In sum, this candidate would have a lifelong deep love of this amazing and unique place we call home, who has the tools to be an effective supervisor together with the desire to improve the lives of others. The one candidate who exemplifies these qualities is Stanley Bissmeyer.

I have no doubts that Ruth would have wholeheartedly approved.
