I got out of bed one morning last week and looked in the mirror. What do you think I saw?
Yep a crazy lady who really needed to do something with her hair! I had not been to a beauty shop in over a year; I had been letting people in the family cut it and everyone has decided they will not cut it again, so I got my telephone book out and started dialing.
I called about five or six salons and got no answer or machine to leave a message on! I had just about given up and then thought I would try one more and low and behold I got an answer! Her name was Vickie and the salon was The Twisted Sisters. What a name huh? Oh I have to tell you the reason I got no answers was, it was a Monday and I didn’t know they close on Mondays.
Well I have to tell you it turned out so well I thought I would ramble around and do a little shopping.
I wound up in our new bookstore Raven & Pines; it’s in the Vons shopping center here in Oakhurst. I was looking around and found two really cute books for my great granddaughter.
And let me tell you this book store is really busy. They are having book clubs for all ages and all kinds of interesting things going on!
In fact, they have joined the business community and are putting on a Christmas Open House on Saturday, Nov. 7. I think it’s going to be a good one as they have 12 businesses involved.
Clash’s Coffee has a buy one get one free! Come and snoop around town. We will probably see each other.
Oh, and there will be local authors at the bookstore on the 7th which sounds like things we need to check out, doesn’t it?
I have to tell you I spent the most wonderful Saturday night at the Redwoods in Wawona! I got to hear one of my favorite performers, he is so entertaining and talented, and yep I am talking about an old timer of our community, Tom Bopp!
It was so funny just that day earlier, my husband and I had been talking about the experiences we have had over the years and we both got to talking about Tom and the time at the Met Cinema when they had shown an old silent film and the piano score was lost.
Tom stepped up, and from just watching the film, he did a very professional job accompanying it. He was so good you would have thought the music was made with the film.
If you get a chance to hear him, he is very entertaining and worth making the effort to see and hear. I swear he has more songs in his memory than anyone I have ever heard of, would you believe thousands?
Well I have chatted with you long enough for this time; I hope you will let me know if there is anything you would like to find out about.
I like sharing stuff with you, till next time …
