Class of 1966 reunion
The Mariposa County High School Class of 1966 has scheduled its 60th reunion.
It will be on Saturday, Sept. 26 at Miner’s Roadhouse starting at 10:20 a.m. It will be in the banquet room.
A group lunch menu will be offered.
People are encouraged to bring their spouses, friends or anyone they would like to invite.

MacDonald is featured artist
Jeanne Moje MacDonald is the featured artist for September at the Sierra Artists Gallery.
She creates sculptures and bas reliefs with clay, stone, bronze, aluminum and iron — and incorporates acrylics, oils, watercolors, pastels and found objects in her mixed media artwork.
She said with sculpture, she can “explore tension between static form and implied movement, as well as creating something that can resonate with the viewer.”
MacDonald often combines various mediums “venturing wherever humor and dreams take me.”
The gallery is located in downtown Mariposa.
OCTOBER
Water park raffle announced
A fundraiser for the Woodland Elementary Boosters is now open.
The raffle is for a two-night stay at Great Wolf Lodge for a family of four, including passes for the indoor water park or cash equivalent.
Local gift cards will be given to second and third place winners.
Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased with cash, check or through Venmo @WoodlandElementary Boosters.
The money raised will help with field trips, class enrichment and more.

Farm and Ranch Tour slated
The 14th annual Mariposa Farm and Ranch Tour will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10.
Five locations will be featured and participants will be able to explore their farms and nature preserves. The venues include Foxtail Farm, Sierra Foothill Conservancy, Betty Massey’s Water Catchment, Folktale Country and Auburn Vineyard.
There will be various activities at each location, including vendors, artists and more.

Garden design education
Garden design stations will be a part of the upcoming Farm & Ranch Tour in Mariposa County.
The stations will include Google Earth for garden planning, raised bed growing, Hugelkultur and orchards and vineyards.
It will be at the Foxtail Farm location during the tour.

KRYZ has Pizza Factory fundraiser set
Pizza Factory is doing a fundraising event for KRYZ 98.5 FM radio.
The event will be on Friday, Oct. 9 from 4-9 p.m. It includes dining in the restaurant to take out.
A portion of all sales during that time period will be donated to KRYZ Radio.
Pizza Factory is located at 5005 5th Street in downtown Mariposa.
KRYZ to host radio seminar
If you have an interest in local radio, an upcoming seminar is just the ticket.
The event will be held on Thursday, Oct. 8 from 5:15-6:30 p.m. at the Mariposa County Library.
The workshop is free to attend and registration is not required.
Some of the topics to be covered include creating a show, adding music, recording commentary, doing station IDs and more.
Those attending will be able to record a show that will later be aired on the radio station.

Piecemakers meet monthly
The Mariposa Piecemakers Quilt group meets the second Saturday of each month at the Mariposa Lutheran Church.
The two-hour meeting begins at 9:15 a.m. and anyone interested in quilting, regardless of experiences, is welcome.

The Women’s Christian Chat group meets the first Tuesday of each month at Happy Burger in Mariposa.
The meetings begin at 9:30 a.m. and all are welcome.

Mariposa woman Lyn Scrivens was in an unfortunate car accident a month ago. Scrivens is known from her Bootjack Stompers involvement. She is from Wales and doesn’t have a lot of family support in the United States.

Airport board needs members
The Mariposa Airport Advisory Committee is now accepting applications for alternate positions on the board.
Anyone who may have an interest in supporting the Mariposa Yosemite Airport should contact board vice-chair, Roy Anderson, at androy51@gmail.com.
The group meets bi-monthly and works on various issues related to the airport.

The Mariposa Certified Farmers’ Market is happening every Wednesday from May-October from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at 5029 Stroming Road.

Trade AA and Narcotics meetings
Trade Recovery Center hosts Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings and Narcotics Anonymous meetings for anyone seeking support in their recovery journey.
AA meetings take place at Trade Recovery Center (5112 Bullion Street) on Thursdays from 6-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 5-6 p.m. Narcotics Anonymous meetings take place in the same location on Tuesdays from noon-1 p.m. These meetings are open to anyone seeking support. Bootjack Stompers
The Bootjack Stompers Hall provides Line Dancing instruction for advanced line dancers on Mondays at 5:30 p.m. and for beginning/intermediate line dancers on Tuesdays from 5:30-7 p.m. with line dance instructor Cheri Ridenhour. We also provide Square Dancing workshops on Tuesdays for SSD/Mainstream and Plus. SSD/Mainstream is at 7:15 – 8:15 p.m. and Plus is from 8:15 – 9:30 p.m. with Caller Rachel Phillips.

Mariposa Beekeepers meet every third Monday of the month, March through October.

Wheelchairs needed
The Mariposa Yosemite Rotary Club is seeking old wheelchairs, crutches and walkers.

Books Galore is a used bookstore in Mariposa County located at the Mariposa County Library.
Operated by the Mariposa County Friends of the Library, Books Galore offers a wide variety of books, DVDs, audio books and CDs at low prices.
The store is open two days a week: Mondays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Book donations are accepted every Monday and Friday in the bookstore. Proceeds help support the Mariposa County Library System.
Quilting group meetings

”Toolbox4” is a new support group for people who walk alongside a family member or friend who struggles with emotional challenges.
Through discussion and teaching we gain tools to be more effective with our challenges.
The new “Toolbox4” meets at the Mariposa Lutheran Church (4469 Highway 140) on Wednesdays at 4 p.m. and the continuing “Toolbox6” will meet on Wednesdays at 6 p.m.

Senior Center bingo & hall for rent
Play bingo at the Senior Center, 5256 Spriggs Lane, on the first Friday of every month.
Doors and kitchen open at 5 p.m. and games begin at 6:15 p.m. Everyone 18 or older is welcome and people are asked to arrive before the start of the first game. The hall is also available to rent for gatherings, parties and more.

Mariposa Mountain Riders
The Mariposa Mountain Riders meets every second Thursday at Happy Burger (5120 Highway 140) at 6 p.m.
Not a member? You can join at the meeting. Annual dues are $30 for individual or $40 for family.
The club’s focus includes preserving riding trails, promoting horsemanship, supporting legislation to benefit horsemen and providing horse related activities.
The group hosts trail rides several times a year and various events.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6042 meets on the second Thursday of the month at the VFW Hall, located at the intersection of Jones Street and Highway 140.

Weekly Civil Air Patrol meetings
The Mariposa squadron of the Civil Air Patrol meets every Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mariposa-Yosemite Airport, 5020 Macready Way.
The squadron welcomes cadets (12-18) and senior members (18 and up).

Fiber Arts group meetings
The Mariposa Fiber Arts group is an informal group that meets every Monday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Mariposa Senior Center (5246 Spriggs Lane).
All skill levels are welcome. We knit, crochet, embroider, weave, felt spin yarn, embellish gourds — any thing fiber related.
Bingo
The American Legion Hall at Bullion and 12th streets in Mariposa will host bingo on the third Friday of the month. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. and bingo begins at 6:15 p.m.
Hot dogs, Polish dogs and chips will be sold.
Organizers encourage residents to come and help support local veterans.
